The Zionist Federation of the UK and Ireland were delighted to host Ambassador Eitan Naeh, in conversation with Fleur Hassan-Nahoum, for its annual Balfour Lecture which took place online on 28th October 2021, marking the almost 104th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration.

Ambassador Naeh has a long and distinguished career in Israel’s diplomatic corps having served as Ambassador to Azerbaijan and Turkey, after having served as Deputy Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Following the signing of the Abraham Accords, he headed Israel’s mission to the UAE prior to a full-time Ambassador being appointed. More recently, he was nominated to serve as Israel’s first Ambassador to Bahrain.
Fleur Hassan-Nahoum is the Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem for International Relations, Economic Development and Tourism and co-founder of UAE Israel Business Council and Gulf Israel Womens’ Forum.

Both Eitan and Fleur continue to trail-blaze the Abraham Accords for Israel and her new strategic allies in the Gulf region, working tirelessly to promote Israel and build ever increasing alliances across all levels of society between Israel, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain.

Richard P Woolf, Acting Chair of the Zionist Federation said: “The annual Balfour Lecture is an opportunity for us to showcase some of the best speakers working on issues regarding Israel and the broader Middle East. A year after the Abraham Accords and historic deals being struck between Israel and four Arab countries, there can be few better speakers than Eitan Naeh and Fleur Hassan-Nahoum, whose diplomatic experience in the Arab and Islamic world are vast and ever-increasingly positive.”
